Under the Ministry of Culture, the appointed
experts on benchmarking of digitisation programmes and the national
representative on digitisation of the cultural heritage will have
the responsibility of the actual work. These two are Borje Justrell,
Director of the ICT department at the Swedish National Archives
and Erik Astrom, Head of Department Arts and Exhibitions at the
Swedish National Council for Cultural Affairs.
The National Archives is charged with the supervision
of all public records in Sweden. It takes direct responsibility
for the records of agencies of the central government, and delegates
to seven regional state archives the supervision of records generated
by regional and local state authorities.
Archives are by law a part of the Swedish cultural heritage.
The National Council for Cultural Affairs has a responsibility
to implement the national cultural policy decided by the Swedish
parliament and government. Together with the National Heritage Board,
the Council for Cultural Affair have the position of Cultural Contact
Point of Sweden. The Council also harbour "Culture net Sweden"
that links to over 6 000 homepages with cultural related content.
